Effective Date of Current Policy: June 1, 2009

Introduction

We work hard to protect your privacy. We're members too, and we treat your privacy as we do our own. We wrote this privacy policy to let you know how we treat your personal information – and to show you all the ways we work to keep it safe and private.

This Privacy Policy describes the personally identifiable information that Zoosa ("Zoosa," "we," "us") collects in the United States through our website located at www.zoosa.org (the "Site") and how we use that information. Please note that this Privacy Policy applies solely to our online information-gathering and dissemination practices in connection with the Site, and does not apply to any of our practices conducted offline or outside of the U.S. If you have any questions or comments about this Privacy Policy or our practices regarding your personally identifiable information, please contact us at info@zoosa.org

Information Collection

In order to become a Zoosa user, you must first create an account on this web site. To create an account you are required to provide the following contact information: name, email address, country, ZIP/postal code, a brief summary of your professional background (current occupation & networking objectives), and choose a password.

Once a user, you may provide additional information in the Profile section describing your skills, professional experiences, and networking objectives. Providing additional information beyond what is required at registration is entirely optional, but enables you to better identify yourself and find new opportunities in Zoosa's system.

In order to invite others to connect with you directly on Zoosa, you will enter their names and email addresses or will search for them by using the site. This information will be used by Zoosa to send your invitation. The names and email addresses of people that you invite will be used to send your invitation and reminders. You may also choose to manually enter or upload data about your contacts into the private "My Contacts" section of our website. All information that you enter or upload about your contacts will be covered by the same terms of this privacy policy as cover your own personally identifiable information.

The Information That We Collect and How we Use the Information

Zoosa collects several types of information about users of our Site:

(1) Personally identifiable information: In general, you do not have to provide us with your personally identifiable information to use this Site. However, certain services to which you may subscribe through this Site (e.g., our newsletters) may require you to provide personally identifiable information, such as your name, physical address, organization name, and email address. You may also be required to submit personally identifiable information, including your credit card number and account information, in connection with purchases and donations that you make through the Site. We use such personally identifiable information to respond to your inquiries, send you newsletters or publications that you request, and to fulfill your orders and process your donations. You may also receive other mailings relating to Zoosa that we think may be of interest to you. If you decide at any time that you no longer wish to receive emails from us, please refer to the paragraph below headed "Changing or Deleting Personal Information."

If you contact us by email through the Site or submit your resume though the Site, we will collect any personally identifiable information that you transmit to us and we may keep a record of your contact information and correspondence, and we reserve the right to use your email address, and any information that you provide to us in your message, to communicate with you. In addition, on rare occasions, we may send by email important administrative information regarding the Site or services to users who have provided us with their email addresses; because this information may be important to your use of the Site and is regarding our ongoing relationship, it is not possible to "opt out" of receiving these emails.

(2)Non-personally identifiable information: We may use cookies to collect non-personally identifiable information in connection with the Site. Our web pages may incorporate "pixel tags," "web beacons," or similar tracking technologies (collectively, "pixel tags") that allow us or our agents to track the actions of users of our Site. Pixel tags are used to collect non-personally identifiable information, such as the name of your internet service provider, the IP address of the computer you are using, the type of browser software and operating system that you use, the date and time you access our Site, the website address, if any, from which you linked directly to our Site, the website address, if any, to which you travel from our Site, and other similar traffic-related information. We may also aggregate your information with similar data collected from other users to help us improve our Site and the services that we provide through our Site. We do not use such data in any way to create or maintain a personal profile of you.

How We Disclose the Information We Gather

Zoosa offers a "public profile" feature which allows users to publish portions of their Zoosa profile to the public Internet. Users may opt-out of this feature; however, Zoosa does not warrant how third-party search engines will update their cache.

We may provide aggregated data about the usage of our services to third-parties for such purposes as we deem, in our sole discretion, to be appropriate. We may segment our users by role (i.e. analysts, executive directors), industry, geographic location, company. If you would like to be excluded from the aggregated research or products based upon aggregated data about our users' activities on the site, please email customer service.

We reserve the right to provide information to our employees, contractors, agents, and designees to the extent necessary to enable them to perform certain Site-related services (e.g., web hosting and maintenance services, improving the Site and its features, and fulfilling orders and processing donations) on our behalf. We also reserve the right to disclose such information to any third party if we believe that we are required to do so for any or all of the following reasons: (i) by law; (ii) to comply with legal processes or governmental requests; (iii) to prevent, investigate, detect, or prosecute criminal offenses or attacks on the technical integrity of the Site or our network; and/or (iv) to protect the rights, property, or safety of Zoosa and its affiliates, its and their partners and employees, the users of the Site, and the public. Additionally, Zoosa reserves the right to transfer any and all information that we collect from users, or that we otherwise collect in connection with the Site, including, without limitation, to unaffiliated third parties or affiliated third parties (i.e., other legal entities of Zoosa), in the event of a sale or transfer of assets or of any portion of our business.

Many emails you initiate through Zoosa, an invitation sent to a non-user for instance, will list your email address and name in the header of the message. Emails you initiate may also provide aggregate information about your network (for instance how many people are in your network). Other communications that you initiate through Zoosa's website, like a request for contact, will list your name as the initiator. They may or may not include your personal contact information. We reserve the right to use contact information provided by you at a later date. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at info@zoosa.org with your questions.

Children's Privacy

Zoosa recognizes the privacy interests of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children's online activities and interests. This Site is not intended for children under the age of 13. Zoosa does not target its services or this Site to children under 13 and Zoosa does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.

Changing or Deleting Personal Information

You can review the personal information you provided us and make any desired changes to the information, or to the settings for your Zoosa account, at any time by logging in to your account on the Zoosa website and editing the information on your Profile page. You can also close your account through the Zoosa website. If you close your Zoosa account, we will remove your name and other personally identifiable information from our publicly viewable data. We may retain certain data contributed by you if it may be necessary to prevent fraud or future abuse, or for legitimate business purposes, such as analysis of aggregated, non-personally-identifiable data, account recovery, or if required by law. All retained data will continue to be subject to the terms of the Zoosa Privacy Policy that you have previously agreed to. To request that we close your account and remove your information from the Zoosa service, please send your request to info@zoosa.org. Please send your request using an email account that you have registered with Zoosa under your name. You will receive a response to requests sent to info@zoosa.org within seven business days of our receiving it.

If you would like to change your personal information, or if you no longer wish to receive materials from us or want your personal information removed from Zoosa's database, please contact us at info@zoosa.org. Alternatively, when you receive commercial materials from us by email or other communications you can make use of the "opt out" provision in such communications so that we know that you no longer wish to receive such materials from us.

Security

Zoosa may use commercially reasonable security measures consistent with industry practice to assist in protecting against the loss, misuse, and alteration of personally identifiable information which is under our control. Unfortunately, no security system, or system of transmitting data over the Internet, can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we undertake commercially reasonable efforts to protect your personally identifiable information, we cannot guarantee the security of our servers, the means by which information is transmitted between your computer and Zoosa's servers, or any information provided to us or to any third party through or in connection with the Site. You provide all such information entirely at your own risk.

Petitions and Surveys

For petitions and surveys you've signed or completed, we treat your name, city, state, and comments as public information—for example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the President and legislators, other targets, or to the press. We will not make your street address publicly available, but we may transmit it to members of Congress and to the President as part of a petition. This is a standard industry practice in such situations. In no such case will we disclose your email address or phone number without your permission. We may also make your comments, along with your first name, city and state available to the press and public online.

Sending Emails Via Zoosa

In certain cases, we enable you to send individual e-mails to others through our website. These messages are sent in your name, with your e-mail address as the return address and your full name and contact information is provided as part of the submission. These messages will only be sent out under your name as you approve them on an individual basis using our email tool. You are solely responsible for the specific message(s) you send using our email tool.

Financial Donations

If you choose to make a donation to Zoosa, your credit card information will be used only for this transaction through our secure online payment system. Zoosa does not retain credit card information or transmit credit card information to others.

Revisions to Privacy Policy

The Internet and the benefits it offers are evolving rapidly, as are the ways in which people use the Internet and the laws surrounding such use. Zoosa therefore reserves the right to update and revise this Privacy Policy at any time. You can determine if this Privacy Policy has been revised since your last visit by referring to the "Date this Privacy Policy was Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your use of our Site constitutes your acceptance of the terms of the Privacy Policy as amended or revised by us, and you should therefore review this Privacy Policy regularly to ensure that you are aware of its terms. Your continued use of this Site and/or continued provision of personally identifiable information to us will be subject to the terms of the then-current Privacy Policy.

Links to Other Sites

Our Site contains links to other websites. For example, our Site allows you to submit donations through a third-party payment processor. Please be aware that we are not and cannot be responsible for the privacy practices of such other websites and that this Privacy Policy applies solely to the information which we collect through this Site. We encourage you to ensure that you read the privacy statements of all the destination websites which you visit.
